Floor plan, Section and Façade 2
*using AutoCAD 2012

1./ Using AutoCAD this week I will plan all floor plans, few sections and façades of my project.
2./ Products:

3./ How to create floor plan: Tutorial

4./ With some help from Peter I solved few problems during this exercise. In last week post I had problem with printing. It is a stupid reason, I still do not know how this happened but somehow I managed to turn of layer for printing. Genius. But now I have problem with PDF printing. I use Cute pdf, and it thinks my design doesn't look crafty enough and adds some stripes all over file. Like this:

Another problem is still with lineweights. When I plot they are okay, but in acad they are just annoying..

Line weights when I turn on and turn off command 'show line weight'.

Immediately when I move display, it turns back.

I was searching tutorials, but I couldn't find anything about that.

Floor plan, Section and Façade

3./ How to revolve an object: Tutorial
4./ I had few problems during this exercise.
One is still unsolved. I have been using Autocad before and I know how to plot to PDF and I know what every command does in plot manager. But this time I do not get it. When I wanted to print floor plan; there were no lines on sight. Tried everything, nothing worked? For example, turning plot to monochrome, grayscale, changing printers,...  There is no hatch, no objects...

Another one was line weight. After hatch, line weights changed. I didn't have command 'show line weights' turned on. And as you know, Acad gives every line the same weight. Again tried few solutions, one worked. I turned on 'show line weight', selected all lines and give them small weight approx. 0.05mm.

Making 3D object in Illustrator CS5

1./ In previous posts I chose a building I will design this semester. I was thinking what will it be used for? As a library or gallery? I went for first one.
*These drawings are all sketches!

2./

Layout 2

Drawing in 3D using AI CS5. I have never done it before. This is how it looks:

I found option Perspective Grid and used it to show view:

Tried Using different swatches and patterns

3./ For this assignment I learned from this tutorial.

4./ While working in illustrator I had no problems, except with rotating objects in 3D.

 It is frustrating!

When I wanted to rotate object, sometimes it looked like mutant circle, when I wanted to fix it, AI froze and stopped working.
I suppose, I don't have enough RAM and having CS5 is too much for my PC.
Slowly.

After few attempts it finally worked okay.

For 3D design, Illustrator is not the best choice. AutoCAD or 3Ds max. Will see..

wk3.2

I just wanted to share a video with you about sketching. It is interesting what people think/feel about going out and sketch.

wk3.1

Gradient diagram
(Tutorial is here)

My location is at Nove Jarše, near Žale.
My location is coloured with yellow

I copied a map from Google and overdraw the buildings.

Drawing sketches in Adobe Illustrator
*version CS4

I used Illustrator before. In high school we had to design multiple logos. In senior year I designed my personal logo:

Neverending

I will try drawing on my existing sketch in Illustrator and paint it.
Course:
> Open Adobe Illustrator
> Create new (print) document
> Select paper size (I selected A4)
> File > Place > Select image

> You can now transform image or resize it, what ever you want

> Create new layer

> Select drawing tool (Line segment tool) and in new layer start drawing over original

> Paint with Live Paint Bucket (K)
I had a little problem with joining paths, some would join normally, some just didn't want to, so I left them as they are. Tutorial.

First project

These are my sketches*:
*taken with photo camera and edited in Adobe Lightroom**

This is the chosen one:

**Pictures were cropped, turned into B&W and adjusted brightness, darks, clarity and tint.
Before and after:

wk2.1

Discovering Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
Version 3.6

For research I will use one of mine old pictures, that needs to be corrected.

Course:
> Open picture in Lightroom
I made new folder with selection of photos that need to be repaired.

> You do not need to do that, but I flagged my selected photo and coloured it red, so I can find it immediately
With right-click you can add different characteristic for selected photo(s)
And view them by clicking Attribute.

> When you open it, do not forget to click Develop in upper right corner
> First I cropped photo

> Then I adjusted brightness, contrast etc. ... This is the middle result of testing what every feature does. You can see huge difference

(To be honest I just clicked buttons from top to bottom until I was satisfied with result)

> And final result, I can now use as my desktop picture

> File > Export > Save

Again from this

to this

in less than 30 minutes and I am using Lightroom for the first time.
